Children’s Ministry
Children’s Lenten Project: This year, through Samaritan’s Purse, we will be giving money to buy blankets to keep families warm after a natural disaster such as a tornado, hurricane or earthquake. We have a goal to buy 100 or more blankets. Each blanket costs $6.00. More information is available in Heavenly Grounds Lent begins this Wednesday.

GriefShare is a Bible based grief recovery support group for adults, it isn’t grief counseling. GriefShare is for those that have lost someone due to death. Tom and Kim Bush will be facilitating a new GriefShare ministry at Dearborn Hills. The session will run March 5^th – June 4^th, on Mondays from 7-9pm. It’s thirteen weekly sessions which include video, discussion, workbook study and support. The cost is $15 which pays for the workbook.  For more information or to sign up contact the Bushes at 637-5394.

During our worship service on February 5^th, together we will recommit some of our financial resources to support missions locally, nationally, and around the world.  This is the element of faith in our giving beyond what we have already committed to DHUMC that lends the Faith Promise its special character.  Please be in prayer over the next few weeks to discern what God is calling you to give according to His riches in Jesus Christ.

Old Friends & Bright Beginnings Luncheon

Our next monthly luncheon will be Thursday, February 2^nd at 11:30am in the Fellowship Hall, please make your reservations toady. The meal will be catered by B&P Grubbs. Our program for the month will be a “Show-n-Tell” day.  We are requesting everyone bring an antique item or something that has a story or special meaning and be prepared to tell about it. Maybe you have an item that will not be familiar to us and you can “stump” the crowd. It should be very interesting and fun.

Valentine Dinner

The UM Men are sponsoring our annual Valentine Dinner on Saturday, February 4^th.  The dinner will be held at Aston Oaks, North Bend, OH and the cost is $18 per person, paid in advance. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. A sign-up sheet is on the UM Men’s bulletin board.

However, we have been able to secure the Sunman-Dearborn Intermediate School gym.  All evaluation times are the same, just at a different location.

Senior Volleyball
It’s time to start volleyball! Our first game will be Thursday, October 13th at 10:00am in the Choir Room. All are welcome; our games are played on the second and fourth Thursday of the month. Come join the fun!

Finding Your Place in the Church
We are called by God to help build up the church (1 Corinthians 14:12).  He equips us with tools (spiritual gifts) for the work.  Using those gifts with passion in ministry fulfills our calling.  Do you know your gift(s), your calling, your place in the church?  We can help.  A workshop to help you discover your gifts and passion will be held here at Dearborn Hills on Saturday, October 15th from 9am to noon.  To register please use the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board, or contact the church office: 637-3993 or pastorscott@dhumc.com.

Charge Conference Cluster Worship – Oct 30 On Sunday, October 30th Dearborn Hills will host our cluster charge conference. We have invited Hamline Chapel and Tanner Valley to worship here at 10:15am.  Dr. Joe Dongell from Asbury Seminary will be preaching and Rev.
Bill Helms will lead the charge conference liturgy.  Coffee and donuts will be served in the Fellowship Hall beginning at 9:00am.  There will be no Sunday School that morning.

Dearborn County CROP Hunger Walk
Sunday, Oct. 9 at 2:00 pm.  Three-mile route starts and ends at First United Methodist Church, 304 Third Street, Aurora.

GOLF OUTING
This year’s Golf Outing will be on Saturday, October 1st at Brook Hill Golf
Club. The start time is 12:30pm and the cost is $40 per person. This
includes greens fee, cart rental, meal and prizes. For more information call

ADULT SMALL GROUPS
Christian fellowship is a key aspect of the Christian life. Believers in
Christ are called to come together in love, faith and encouragement. The
purpose of small group meetings is Christian fellowship (Koinonia). As the
body of Christ, we are called to grow in genuine care for each other, to
develop and invest in personal relationships as Jesus did with his
disciples. There is a small group currently formed that may fit your needs -
or have you considered starting one? Please contact the Church Office, Karen

Regarding the Family Life Center roof project. GBT has relocated to the main floor as of last Tuesday. The insurance company adjuster and structural engineer have strongly suggested that no one – yes no one – occupy or enter any floor of the “new addition” until further notice. Sunday School classes and Wednesday night activities have been relocated accordingly. At this time, there will be no Wednesday night meal even though Wednesday night classes will be offered. With a spirit of cooperation and charity, we truly believe we can accomplish whatever concessions/changes God calls us to make. Other than that, it’s “business as usual” here at DHUMC.

Discipleship Expedition

Discipleship Expedition is a ten week course designed to help strengthen your faith, and is a prerequisite for church membership. The topics covered will provide a foundational understanding of basic Christian beliefs and practices, of Dearborn Hills’ vision and purpose, of United Methodist history and doctrine, and of your place in the life of the church. The Expedition began today during the Sunday School hour. If you’re interested joining the class, contact the church office

United Methodist Women

The UMW is still taking donations for health kits which cost $10 each. The UMW will purchase the items and then have a “packing Party” to assemble the kits at noon on Tuesday, September 15th. These kits are distributed worldwide. What a great way to help someone in need.

Short Term Sunday School Class

A Short Term Sunday School Class “Imagine Life God’s Way” will be offered during the Sunday School hour from Sunday, September 18th -November 13th. This class will meet in Jon’s office.

Kids Day Out: We’re getting back into the “swing of things” this month by playing miniature golf on Saturday, September 24th. Please complete a reservation form found in the Children’s Ministry display (across from the nursery) by Wednesday, September 21st. Bring a friend!
